Vodafone mobile deals

Vodafone is among the biggest mobile network providers in the UK, offering every type of plan. The most popular Vodafone deals are pay-monthly plans that include a phone. Handset deals offer you the best smartphones and come with unlimited minutes and texts plus the data allowance of your choice.

Vodafone also has great deals on SIM-only contracts and pay-as-you-go SIM plans, which can be an excellent choice if you want a more flexible contract. Vodafone also uses the 5G network, and offers it with any type of deal, for a faster or more reliable internet connection.

Compare Vodafone deals

Vodafone offers an extensive selection of pay-monthly phones, SIM-only deals and pay-as-you go tariffs. Take a look at our comparison of the best Vodafone deals using our comparison tool.

Pay-monthly phones

Pay-monthly phones, also known as handset deals, are deals in which you get both a phone and SIM with an airtime plan. Vodafone pay-monthly deals feature the best smartphones on the market, with high-end iPhone and Android devices on offer, and provide airtime plans that include unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and a data allowance of your choosing.

An enticing feature of Vodafone’s smartphone deals is that they are customisable. This means you get to choose how much GB data you get every month, your contract length and the upfront cost you pay for the phone. This way you can adapt your phone plan to suit your needs and your budget.

If you need a new smartphone but the cost of it doesn’t fit into your budget, pay-monthly plans can be a great alternative to buying a brand new phone in full. Pay-monthly plans mean you get the phone up front by paying it off every month, usually over the course of 12 to 36 months, although this will mean an extra cost in the long run.

There’s often an extra cost to pay up front as well, though some deals will give you your device with no initial fee. Take a look at our guide of the best Apple and Android deals in 2022.

Apple iPhone deals

Choose the iPhone you want and customise your own pay-monthly package. The most common airtime plan among iPhone customers are plans with unlimited data, which are a good choice if you never want to worry about caps on your usage.

Pay as you go (PAYG)

Only pay for the allowances you use with a pay-as-you-go contract:

Pay-as-you-go phones

Pay-as-you-go phones offer flexibility, not tying you to a fixed-term plan. You will only have to pay the upfront cost of the phone and your first PAYG tariff.

Once you’ve made the first payment, you get to decide which airtime plan you need every month and when to renew. Keep in mind that not all phones are available on this type of plan, but a large selection of iPhones, Samsung Galaxy devices, and other Android phones are available.

Pay-as-you-go SIM

A pay-as-you-go SIM is ideal if you already have a mobile phone and need a flexible data plan that won’t bind you to a long-term contract. Pay-as-you-go tariffs come with many perks, including data rollover and not needing to carry out a credit check, so you may find that a one-month rolling tariff will suit you better. Vodafone offers the following pay-as-you-go tariffs:

  • 1GB data (5G) for £24
  • 5GB data (5G) for £28
  • 20Gb data (5G) for £33
  • Unlimited data for £37
  • Unlimited data (5G) for £47

All PAYG tariffs come with unlimited minutes and unlimited texts.

Network coverage

2G + 3G data

Although Vodafone offers the latest generations of mobile network, it still provides 2G and 3G data coverage in areas not covered by 4G and 5G, so you will still have a network to connect to in areas not covered by the latest technology.

4G data

Vodafone offers 4G coverage across 98% of the UK, so you shouldn’t have issues connecting to the Vodafone 4G network in your area. And 4G is the standard network connection offered by Vodafone, offering an average download speed of 21.6Mbps and average upload speed of 7.4Mbps.

5G data

Vodafone has launched 5G in 127 locations across the UK, with the aim to expand its 5G network year on year. Vodafone’s 5G network is at least five times faster than 4G, offering an average speed of 122.6 Mbps. The provider offers Ultrafast 5G network access at no extra cost to customers but you will need a smartphone that can support it. Newer iPhone and Android models typically support 5G.

Other Vodafone perks

Spend Manager

Stay in control of how much you spend outside your monthly mobile bill by setting a limit on charges. Having the ability to go over your monthly allowance means you’ll still be able to call, text and use the internet even if you reached the limit of your airtime plan for the month.

Set your Spend Manager to anywhere between £0 and £100 a month and you won’t be charged unless you go over it. Enabling your Spend Manager is extremely useful if you want to ensure you never go without data. Vodafone will also notify you when you reach your spend limit and will disable all chargeable functions.

If you prefer to be on the safe side and avoid any extra charges, set it to £0. To add, remove or modify your Spend Manager, just use the My Vodafone app.

Refer a friend scheme

Rewards customers who refer a friend to a pay-monthly deal by giving both you and your friend a £25 Amazon voucher. To qualify for the voucher, you’ll need to request a link on the Vodafone website and send it to your friend. Your friend can use the link to sign up to a pay-monthly deal online and, once the purchase is finalised, you will both be rewarded.

Discounts for existing customers

If you’re already a Vodafone pay-monthly customer, get up to 15% off any additional phone plan you add to your account. Adding all your family to the same account can be a great way to save money on your household’s mobile bills.

Vodafone offers up to £100 cashback with some pay-monthly plans. Enquire to find out whether you could get cashback on the deal you want – you could save a lot of money.

Frequently asked questions

SIM-only deals come as one-month, 12-month, or 24-month plans. The provider lets you choose the contract length you want from the options available.

Longer contracts have a lower monthly cost, so buying into the longest plan possible can help you save money on your bills as long as you don’t end the contract early.

Most of Vodafone’s phones are unlocked, including iPhones. This means you can easily switch providers and insert another network’s SIM card. If your device happens to not be unlocked, you can request a network unlock code (NUC) on the provider’s website, which should unlock your device within 72 hours.

Once your existing plan ends, your airtime plan will auto-renew unless you decide to cancel, upgrade or switch provider, but you’ll no longer be charged for the phone as it will have been paid off.

If you’re on a 30-day SIM-only plan, the contract will automatically renew. To end any Vodafone contract, you’ll need to give 30 days’ notice.

You can stop your contract renewal by calling Vodafone’s customer service or by requesting to do so in-store.

You can have as many contracts as you want, but the 15% discount offered by the provider to the existing customers applies only to the first nine you take out.

You can add another contract through your mobile account and the 15% discount will be added automatically. Alternatively, you can visit a store, but remember to ask them for the 15% discount for existing customers.

If you’re looking to end your contract early, Vodafone will probably charge you an early termination fee. If you want to upgrade mid-contract, you can do so without having to pay off your current plan.

Yes, by using the Spend Manager feature to cap your phone contract. You can set your Spend Manager to £0 or to any amount up to £100.

Yes, Vodafone does offer Wi-Fi calling. If you don’t have any mobile signal, you can call using data or a Wi-Fi connection.
