Global Health Security: about this site

Our Global Health Security coverage is partly funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

This support comes without strings and The Telegraph retains full editorial control over all the content published.

The area of global health security is broad and includes topics such as:

  • Covid 19 and other pandemic threats
  • the spread of other communicable diseases like Ebola and Zika as well as a wide range of rare diseases
  • the dramatic impact of ‘non-communicable diseases’ including obesity, heart disease and diabetes
  • the rise antibiotic resistance and new superbugs
  • the growing threat of bio-terrorism
  • social and political instability sown by war and natural disasters including climate change

The project was launched in February 2018 with the aim of raising awareness and understanding of these and other issues.

We were among the first to warn of an approaching pandemic and have covered the crisis in detail since its start in December 2019.

The Telegraph’s Global Health Security content includes breaking news, features, debate and opinion – all supported by Telegraph editors, correspondents and subject matter experts from Britain and around the world.

We hope that you, our readers, will also contribute via our social media channels and comment and communities functions.
